Boarding in Va? Starting a boarding barn in Va?
Look at comparable facilities in your area, in size and space amenities not necessarily looks. Looks are fairly cheap and easy to change. You want your rates to be proportionate to the local demand for boarding facilities go onto their websites see how many have stalls available to gauge the amount of demand in your area. Make sure you go over the place with a fine tooth comb and skeptical eye remember if you wouldn't want your horse to live there then other people probably wont either. I would be wary of offering self-care board, people abandon their horses at boarding stables all the time. I would also get a couple horses of my own if you don't have any already. So that in the first months if you only have one boarder and one horse that horse has others to go out with and wont be alone. Make sure your facility is secure locks on tack rooms, individual tack lockers are always good. I would talk to some people who have done this before and really think about the kind of commitment you are getting into. If your asking people on the internet for advice you might not be ready to take care of other peoples horses. Be careful what you get yourself into. Have fun.
