They caught my yard on fire!?!?

My next door neighbors burnt our front yard the other day. They look hispanic (I think they are from, like, Pakistan), and every few months or so they put out a half coconut, mashed potatoes, flowers, and a candle in the area where our 2 yards meet. The candle was blown by the wind and caught our font yard on fire. Luckily, nobody was hurt and I wanted to kow if anyone knew anything about tis type of culture or tradition or whatever it is...
